Short introduction
Anyone who talks about Niki Lauda these days mostly remember the terrible accident and injury that occurred. But even before and after the accident, the ambitious Austrian racing driver built a big career that many young athletes could only dream.
Early Life
Andreas Nikolaus Lauda, called Niki, was born in Vienna in early 1949. His father and again his father is an industrial entrepreneur, which is why young Lauda grows in a fairly rich and financially safe environment. He is a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
At the age of fifteen, Niki Lauda bought his first car, VW Beetle Cabriolet. He was very proud of it, but also needed a lot of money, which was why he took vacation work as a passenger truck. As a teenager, Lauda knew that he wanted to work in Motorsport. However, his family is skeptical, the result is a big argument.
Because the family no longer helped him, Lauda then fined his own career through loans and the use of his rear names known regionally. In 1968 he was riding his first car race with a mini cooper and took second place. In the following year he was in the Kainn team several times on the podium.
Career
Niki Lauda was riding his first sports car race with Porsche and BMW in the 1970s and won, among others, 24-hour race in Nürburgring. After several start in Formula 3, he turned to Formula 2 until finally entered Formula 1 in 1971. There he reached third place at Monaco Grand Prix, where Ferrari offered him a contract. With this team, Lauda reached the size of athletics and won his first Grand Prix in Spain in 1974.
1975 was followed by the title of Lauda’s first world championship after being a favorite throughout the season. In 1976 he also led ranking and reached four out of eight wins. In August, his accident finally took place in Nürburgring, where Lauda car caught fire after an accident. Drivers of seriously injured racing, are in a comma and suffer from poisoning of smoke.
However, the ambitious young athletes started the next race after only six weeks and could not be stopped: regardless of his wounds, he reached the fourth place. In 1977, the Second World Cup victory was followed immediately. Because of the difference with Ferrari, Lauda then turned to Brabham and was fourth again in 1978. From 1979 to 1982, the racing driver took a break because he had no motivation and devoted himself to other projects until he joined the McLaren team in the year 1982.
Niki Lauda won the World Cup in 1984 with a very narrow margin. The following year, he retired from his Motorsport career after winning the last Grand Prix. Furthermore, Lauda built several airlines, working as a consultant for Ferrari and Jaguar and acted as a commodore and sports experts in Formula broadcast 1. Racing drivers died in Zurich in May 2019 after serious health problems.
Career spotlight.
Already in the sixties and the seventies of Niki Lauda won several small competitions. In 1973, when he had just been active in Formula 1 for two years, the young driver was third in Monaco Grand Prix. This made him get a contract with Ferrari, among others, and over time, Lauda helped the team for new success in this industry.
Success in the seventies is very good. In 1974 Lauda won his first and fourth grand prix throughout the season, the following year he received a world title in Germany. He drove Nürburgring in less than seven minutes and was the first Ferrari driver who was awarded Formula 1 World title since 1964. Another victory in the world championship was followed in 1977, after that Austria was named Lauda Sportsman this year.
