Early Life
Clemens Tönnies was born on May 27, 1957 in Rheda in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Gütersloh. He comes from a rather humble background. His father worked as a butcher and Clemens grew up as one of the six siblings (two brothers and four sisters). After finishing school, he completed professional training as a meat technician and entrepreneur. Since early age he shows interest in the context of a profitable economy and business. Relations with his brother Bernd played an important role. He founded wholesale meat and sausages in Rheda in 1971. Clemens joined the business and together they founded B. & C. Tönnies Fleischwerk GmbH & Co. Kg on the market.
Career
With intelligent and wise management, Bernd and Clemens managed to make the company with one of the biggest meat producers on the continent. One reason for success is the division of a hierarchical assignment and order that applies between the brothers and which Bernd sees as the head of the company. When the company grew rapidly and the location capacity was no longer enough in the city of birth, the company moved to Herzebrock neighbors.
