Yet another 10-inch tablet – Micromax Funbook Pro
With the season of Tablets and increasing number of tablet players in the market – there have been a range of tablet manufacturers from budgeted brands to the niche expensive brands in the market. We have seen a lot of manufactures with 7-inch display based tablets in the market. But with 10-inch display based tablet manufacturers, they can be actually counted on your finger tips like – Apple, Samsung, and ASUS we know as of now in the niche bracket. And the fun of browsing or watching videos on large screen size is a different fun filled experience in itself. And to the competition of large display size, Micromax has also made its entry and can give a good competition to the bigger brands. Well, its success all depends on the users likes and dislikes but at the moment we have another 10-incher Android Tablet in our hands and that is Micormax Funbook Pro.
Design, Build and Hardware:
It is similar to its previous version Funbook P300 except its 10-inch larger size and a few important specs. It has a touch built frame with glossy top and sides and a VGA front facing camera in the upper right corner. The rare part has a matte-finish with all-plastic silver convex back panel. It has a 10.1-inch screen size with 1024 X 600 pixel resolution with usable resolution of 1024 X 552 pixels and remaining is allocated for the onscreen buttons. There have appreciable efforts to improve its screen quality, contrast levels and its viewing angles. Hardware is built keeping Android 4.0 or higher in mind and there are no hardware keys on its side. The power key is on its right side along with other array of ports like power key to headphones, HDMI, USB and a microSD card slots.
Micromax has installed few custom icons and runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Micromax has also pre-installed few extra applications along with its own eLearning oriented apps. They have also installed custom store like play store providing a curated lists of apps to user
The table is powered with 1GB of RAM which aids multitasking and a 1 GHz sun4i processor with a Mali 400 GPU which handles graphic duties. Android 4.0 has GPU acceleration ICS onwards making good use of the Mali 400 GPU.
Funbook pro has 8GB of storage and can be extended with microSD storage. It can play up to 720p video content and with the help of HDMI port can play HD content over Television. The absence of Bluetooth strikes out the possibility of using wireless headphones but has a decent speaker volume.
The large 5600 mAh battery is very impressive but it lasts for only 1 hour and 50 minutes while watching videos and this is only cause of lack of software optimization. With light browsing it can stretch up to 5 hours and on an average can last up to 3 to 4 hours.
It’s available at Rs.9, 999/- in Indian market. So, if you need a large display tablet in a budgeted bracket Funbook Pro is an interesting model with decent benefits as compared to expensive models but definitely its takes a toll on its performance due to its battery.
