Micromax Canvas Mega 2: Smartphone with 6-inch display, 3000mAh battery for Rs. 7999
The budget smartphone market is probably the most profitable, as the mobile manufacturing companies get to attract way more customers for the low cost mobile phones as compared against the premium smartphone models. However, although the budget smartphones are really meant for the masses and easily get a large number of takers, life is not particularly rosy for the mobile companies who primarily thrive on their budget offerings. This is because owing to a wider customer range, the low cost smartphone range is also vast and as a result there is cutthroat market competition. This means that the smartphones in the budget market not only have to carry highly aggressive price tags, but also have to be as capable and feature-rich as possible in order to gain more success over its rivals in the market. And thankfully, this is exactly what we are noticing in the current Indian mobile market, as the homegrown and global mobile companies are flooding our shore with innumerable smartphones that are loaded with impressive specs and features while their pocket pinch is really slight.
In keeping with the increasing market competition, homegrown mobile maker, Micromax has launched a latest offering in its Mega series of smartphone models. Micromax introduced the Mega smartphone series in the country last year, with two models under the same brand, namely– the Canvas Mega E353 and the Canvas Mega 4G Q417 both of which flaunted 5.5 inch large displays. Now, the Indian mobile manufacturing company has launched a new product in this range, which has been named as the Micromax Canvas Mega 2.
The newly launched Micromax Canvas Mega 2 is slightly bigger than its older siblings and is actually a phablet featuring a large 6 inch display, while carrying a considerably small price tag of Rs. 7,999. The new Canvas Mega 2 phablet is the latest effort from the house of Micromax to strengthen its portfolio in the ever growing phablet market of India. The company says that it already commands over a market share of more than 15 percent in the Indian phablet segment and is definitely aiming to grab much more.
The new Micromax Canvas Mega 2 smartphone model comes packed with decent tech specs and other features. The handset comes packed with a 1.3 GHz quad-core chipset which forms a part of the Canvas Mega series. The mobile comes with the support of 1 GB RAM and 8 GB expandable storage, runs on the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS version and offers Bluetooth 4.0 technology support. The Canvas Mega 2 features an 8 MP primary camera and a 5 MP Selfie camera and draws its juice to run from a fairly large 3,000 mAh battery.

As the cricket season is here, the new Micromax Canvas Mega 2 smartphone will certainly be a favorite of all the sports fans of India, as they will get to enjoy the best quality mobile cricket on this new phone.
Now let us take a quick look at what all the new Micromax Canvas Mega 2 has in offer:
Design & Display
Micromax has focused on making the Canvas Mega 2 look attractive and pretty decent with a touch of premium feel even at its highly aggressive price point. The phablet flaunts a neat design and also looks pretty sturdy. The handset flaunts duo speakers at the front which is similar to what can be seen on the HTC One series. The back panel of the smartphone flaunts a nice textured finish which should offer a good and comfortable grip.
The display is probably the Micromax Canvas Mega 2 greatest draw point, as its price point, the Canvas Mega 2 is most likely the only phablet that sports a 6 inch large display while being priced at under Rs. 8,000. This offers it an edge over most of its market rivals all of which are priced at around Rs. 10,000 slab while packing in a slightly smaller 5.5 inch display. However, to keep the price on check Micromax has compromised on the hardware specs a bit. The phone’s 6 in large qHD screen has a decent screen resolution of 960×540 pixels.

The Micromax Canvas Mega 2 gets powered by a quad-core processor that is clocked at a speed of 1.3 GHz and gets the support of 1GB of RAM. The phone offers an onboard memory of 8 GB which can be expanded to up to 32GB with the help of a microSD card.
