Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe Vs Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra: Comparison
Asus has a knack for delivering mind-boggling handsets with prolific specifications. Almost a year ago, the ZenFone 2 happened and it left us awestruck with those glorious looks and impeccable performance. Well now, it’s time for the elder ZenFone siblings. Asus has announced the new ZenFone lineup, and has already given us new smartphone goals to look up to!
ZenFone 3 is set to hit the shelves, but its Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe and Ultra variants are way more tempting. The two metal beauties look very different from the outside and stand out in all aspects, even in terms of battery life. The Ultra variant is promising an immersive big screen experience, while the Deluxe variant is boasting more of a premium construction. They both have their own positives and are already posing serious threats against the likes of Samsung, HTC, and other giants.
However, many of our readers are still puzzled in marking out which ZenFone is the one to pick. The ZenFone moniker covers a slew of smartphones and it is always tedious to take a pick from a group of many. So to ease that up, here’s the difference between the new ZenFone 3 Deluxe and ZenFone 3 Ultra.
Design and Build
Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe and Ultra feature an identical construction with a full aluminium alloy unibody with “invisible antennas.” The two phones (or phablets) have their own tweaks, but you’ll have a great time using and carrying them around. The super-cool ZenFone 3 Deluxe fits nicely in one hand, and looks very premium with that Galaxy S7 inspired camera sensor and fingerprint scanner placed right under it. It looks very clean on both ends, and clearly makes that Deluxe flagship finish.
The Ultra sized variant on the other side, is a tad bigger and heavier too. The handset boasts the same aluminum alloy unibody finish, but features a tweaked camera module on the upper right corner of the back and a snappy fingerprint scanner at the bottom of the front panel. The fingerprint scanner mixed with the home-button is fast and easier to reach despite that gargantuan profile. On whole, we like Asus’ design strategy to make this phone ergonomically advanced and easy to carry!
Display and Viewing Experience
Asus endows an exquisite visual experience with Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe and Ultra. The Deluxe variant ships with a 5.7-inch full-HD Super AMOLED display featuring 386 pixels per inch. It comes protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on the top and delivers punchy and vibrant colour tones in all environments, even in broad daylight. The images look true-to-life and visual experience is a lot more than just pleasant.
On the other side, ZenFone 3 Ultra flaunts a meticulously crafted 6.8-inch display. The handset may not incorporate a Super AMOLED panel, but its IPS panel with 1080p screen resolution is as good and as vibrant as you see on a well-equipped S-AMOLED display. It features 324 pixels per inch, supports multi-touch up to 10 fingers, and comes protected with Corning Gorilla glass 4 atop. Meaning, if you’re addicted to big-screens, this one is the sharpest and the strongest you can ever grab on a tight budget.
Hardware and Internals
Here, the Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe variant clearly makes a better and more boastful package. The handset ships flagship-level internals which basically includes Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4/6GB of RAM, and three storage options with 64, 128, and 256GB internal storage. It makes an incredible package with smooth and glitch-free performance, and proves the point that “Deluxe” does not always mean good looks, sometimes it can also mean masterclass under the hood.
On the other side, ZenFone 3 Ultra might not incorporate flagship-level feature, but we’re pretty convinced that it’s Snapdragon 652 octa-core SoC paired with 3/4GB of RAM can do the job without snafus. This time, Asus has given special attention to the innards, and has made sure that nothing goes untouched on the ZenFones. ZenFone 3 ships with enough power to handle heavy usage, and offers more than enough room with 32, 64, and 128GB storage variants.
In addition, the two phones also use their second SIM slot as a hybrid to expand storage capabilities up to 256GB via microSD card.
Both ZenFone 3 variants feature an identical camera setup to accomplish your photography goals with complete perfection. They both incorporate a 23-megapixel sensor on the back and an 8-megapixel sensor on the front. The both pair up nicely to produce crisp shots, but the main camera stands out with laser/phase detection autofocus, 4-axis OIS, dual-LED (dual tone) flash. It takes photography to a whole new level, and creates an ideal ecosystem to capture memories at their best.
Though camera hardware is identical, ZenFone 3 Ultra does not include support for 4k video capture. If you want to record videos in high-detail, the Deluxe variant is the one for you.
While camera and software performance is absolutely identical, the next big difference between the Ultra and Deluxe variant comes from their battery. Asus ZenFone 3 Deluxe bears a fairly impressive 3000 mAh battery, while the Ultra variant, with a 6.8-inch panel, packs a 4600 mAh battery. They both bundle fast charging tech, and deliver more than enough juice to keep all your tasks up and running, even on the go. Whether your usage is light, moderate, or heavy, these two beauties will live up to your expectations, thanks to effective hardware-software optimization from Asus.
So this is what you get with Asus’ new range of ZenFones. In our opinion, the new metal-clad beauties are splendid in all areas. They pack an incredible form-factor with strong internals, and handle all your tasks seamlessly, without running out of power. However, considering the spec-sheet, it’s must to say that unless you have a thing for big screens, the Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe variant is the better and most obvious player to count on. It’s the perfect flagship material that you can grab in the mid-to-high-end price bracket.
